About The Doune

The Doune is a traditional Scottish country house, offering a comfortable and unique space set within 36 acres. We provide a luxurious, up-market experience with a high standard of finish and meticulous attention to detail. Built in 1856, The Doune Luxury Country House offers salmon fishing on the River Nairn and direct access to forestry walks from the property.

Our Story

Originally built as the dowager house for MacKintosh of MacKintosh in 1856, The Doune Luxury Country House has a rich history. Although the house was in a complete state of disrepair in 2009, it has been lovingly re-built to 21st-century standards. We stripped it back to the stone walls, removed all the floors, and rebuilt it with underfloor heating on all three floors and incorporating seven different Victorian tiling patterns.

Magnificent Formal Pond

One thing we'd really want you to know about The Doune Luxury Country House is our magnificent formal pond at the front of the house. It features the four seasons statues and large urns. It has a hot tub and provides a unique space.
